West Recruiting Notebook

A look at the latest news and notes from out West in this week's notebook...

Bruins Add to Secondary

UCLA signed the best secondary class in the Pac-12 in 2013 and their 2014 haul got a boost with a pair of commits, on the same day, from in-state cornerbacks.

El Cerrito (Calif.) four-star cornerback Adarius Pickett committed to UCLA just days after his official visit, choosing the Bruins over a group that included Arizona State, Cal, Stanford and USC.

A few hours later, Compton (Calif.) Centennial cornerback Denzel Fisher committed to the Bruins just a few days after he was offered by the Bruins.

  • Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco offensive guard Damien Mama set up his third official visit, to Notre Dame, and will be in South Bend on October 19th, when the Irish host USC.

Tre Watson - RB - Corona (Calif.) Centennial - 2014
Cal got an early jump when they got a commitment from Watson, but after the way he's started the 2013 campaign, with 700 yards in the first two games, you can bet other schools will be picking it up.  Watson will visit Boise State and Utah officially, has already been to UCLA for a game and USC told him they would be recruiting him now.

  • Honolulu (Hawaii) Kaiser linebacker Fitou Fisiiahi flipped his commitment from Hawaii to Oregon State.

  • Granite Bay (Calif.) 2015 linebacker Cameron Smith was offered by Washington State.
  • Scottsdale (Ariz.) Saguaro 2015 receiver Christian Kirk was offered by USC.
  • Highlands Ranch (Colo.) Valor Christian 2015 cornerback Eric Lee was offered by Oregon State.
  • Pocatello (Idaho) Highland 2015 lineman Tristen Hoge was offered by Washington.
  • Bellevue (Wash.) Newport fullback Conner Baumann was offered by Wyoming.

National Recruiting Analysts Greg Biggins and Brandon Huffman contributed to this notebook.
