Every year Jenks-Tulsa Union is the most anticipated game in Oklahoma. This year it's even more…
Overton a Top Interior Target
Marquise Overton, a 6-foot-1, 300-pound defensive tackle from Jenks (Okla.) High played solidly in Saturday's big 27-23 win over Euless (Texas) Trinity. "I think we played tremendously," Overton said of his team's defensive performance. "I think I made plays and just put the trust in my linebackers." Overton was glad to pull off the victory, proving that the top teams in Oklahoma can stand up against the top Texas high school teams. Trinity is year in and year out one of the best, and littered with division one prospects. "Last year Union had a big loss against them, so we knew they were big and had a big tradition. We just had to have the mindset to go out there and win," Overton added. On the recruiting front, Overton has been drawing big interest. All of the major regional and many national programs are showing interest. He has already secured six offers. "Illinois, Baylor, Ole Miss, Toledo, Tulsa, Oregon State," Overton answered when asked who has stepped up. "It is really exciting." "Right now I am just waiting and letting it (recruiting) carry on by itself. Overton mentioned that he has "went to a practice at Oklahoma State" and is interested in picking up offers from "any SEC" or "Big 12" teams. "It was good I liked it," Overton said of his trip to Stillwater. Overton is rated as a Scout.com four-star prospect, the No. 14 defensive tackle nationally in the Class of 2015. "I just have intensity off the ball and try to draw the triple and double teams and just do my job," Overton reported on his strengths as a player. Next Jenks will square off against Tulsa (Okla.) Union.
