Southern Miss has added some beef along the defensive line with the commitment of Jauan Collins from…
Meet Jauan Collins
"My sophomore year I came in and did pretty good," Collins said. "I got sidelined with a bacteria infection but after I came back I did pretty good. I led the team in tackles for loss. We went to the state championship game and hopefully we go back this year."
Collins had 43 tackles as a sophomore and has already collected 19 tackles through two games this season.
"I think my agility and quickness has improved. My technique has gotten better. I'm trying to work on my pass rush but it has gotten better too."
Collins has set a few goals for the season.
"My number one goal is to put the team first. Personally I want to lead the coast in sacks and hopefully talk to some schools and perform well."
Who are some schools the 6' 1", 295-pounder is hearing from?
"I'm interested in Florida, Ole Miss, and (Mississippi) State but my options are wide open."
What about Florida has caught his eye?
"It's always been my favorite school. I've watched them since I was a little kid. I have always been a big Gator fan."
Ole Miss has also stayed on his mind.
"I like Ole Miss because it's in-state and I like their facilities. I just like everything about Ole Miss."
Collins has a few friends who attend Mississippi State.
"I like MSU because I have a couple friends who go to school there. It'd be a nice place to play."
