He has started taking visits and by the end of this college football season, hopes to see all four of the programs who are in contact.
"I went to Nebraska's first game and was going to their second game, but I dislocated my shoulder Friday night, so I couldn't make it. I'll probably go to a couple Iowa State games, a couple Iowa games, a Minnesota game, and maybe some more Nebraska games."
That first Nebraska game, an exciting win over Wyoming, was an experience Waechter says he enjoyed.
"It was fun. It was a great atmosphere. I liked being on the field for pre-game. We went on a tour of the facilities. That was impressive."
Having camped at Nebraska over the summer, he already has a familiarity with the Huskers and their staff.
"[Their camp] went really well for me. I tested well, did well in drills, and talked to coaches a lot. I got invited to all of their games and they said they would keep an eye on me this fall."
Iowa State's camp was also a good experience.
"That one went well too. We didn't do any testing there, but drills went well. I got lot a of attention from the coaches and also got invited to all of their games."
Waechter says he will return to action in two to four weeks.
