Markham Paukune is yet another name from Fort Worth (Texas) All Saints that is drawing attention from college recruiters. Although Demetrius Knox headlines the group of offensive linemen for the Saints, Paukune is definitely one to keep an eye on.
The 6-foot-4, 270-pounder currently has offers from three FBS programs.
“Texas State, Louisiana Tech and Houston have offered,” he said. “The Houston offer was big time to me. Kansas has also talked to me so hopefully during the year I can pick up an offer from them. Right now my recruitment is still open.”
Paukune received his offers over the summer after attending various camps. He hopes to make some official visits later this year to each program showing him interest.
“I went down to Houston and met with some other recruits and commits so that was really cool,” he said. “I’m still trying to get down to Texas State for an official and I’m hoping to get to Houston too. I’m definitely going to take some officials before I make my commitment. We’ll see how it goes. I’d like to see how everything plays out before I decide.”
In addition to Texas State and Houston, Paukune says he would like to re-visit Kansas for a game this season.
“I went to a camp there so I got to see a lot of their facilities but I love to go again for a game,” he said of Kansas. “Everyone says Lawrence is such a cool place and everyone loves it. I’m hoping to make it to a game for sure.”
One team currently stands out above the others according to Paukune. However, he’s not close to making a decision and admits his favorites could change at a moment’s notice.
“I’d say Houston is my number one so far but that doesn’t mean I’m going to commit there anytime soon,” Paukune said. “I like the offense they run, it’s a similar offense and they score a lot of points. That’s what I like to do. I’ve just really clicked and connected with them.”
