Among the visitors for Saturday's Wisconsin game against Purdue was an in-state junior who appears to be in line to be heavily recruited, Oak Creek High School's Nathan Veloz. A powerful 6-foot-4, 290-pound pancake machine of an offensive lineman, Veloz says he had a great time in Madison.
"I thought the game was awesome. I've always been a Badger fan. The atmosphere was great and there was a lot of energy."
The Badgers have had a chance to see Veloz in action before, and their recruitment of him began earlier this year.
"I was at the camp this spring and they told me I really turned some heads. They're showing high interest."
The other programs Veloz reports interest from are Michigan State, Iowa, Northern Illinois, Iowa State, Central Michigan, Stanford, Western Illinois, and Oregon. He hopes to continue to take visits over the next few months, including seeing a couple more Big Ten schools.
"I'll be going to a Michigan State game in a couple of weeks and a couple Iowa games for unofficial visit. I went to both the Michigan State and Wisconsin camps. They both seemed to have been pleased."
And the Hawkeyes are also impressed with what they have seen.
"I haven't been up there [to Iowa] yet. I'll be going next month. After they watched my highlight film, I was put on their top prospect list, which is as high you can be ranked without being offered they said."
Veloz made All-Conference as a sophomore.
