The East Region is home to a five-star and more than a dozen four-star prospects in the 2016 class as Scout.com released ratings of the top players in the area.
The top-rated prospect is Scotch Plains-Fanwood (N.J.) High defensive tackle Rashan Gary, who already holds offers from the likes of Alabama, Florida, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Rutgers.
The 6-foot-4, 280-pound Gary impressed on the camp circuit throughout the spring and summer, and is getting plenty of interest from colleges.
“It’s overwhelming but at the same time it keeps me humble because I know colleges are offering me right now so I have to keep working hard,” Gary said prior to his sophomore season. “It’ crazy, but I have to stay humble about it. (The craziest thing) is that I have a chance to go to college for free and these college programs want me to play for them.”
Gary is the lone five-star in the region’s initial ratings, but he is joined by 13 four-star prospects, including six receivers and a trio of defensive ends.
For the receivers:
Richmond (Va.) Benedictine’s Scott Bracey (Clemson, Iowa, North Carolina, Ohio state, Penn State, South Carolina, Virginia among offers.
