JCSpotlight: 5-Stars for Tyreek Hill
Tyreek Hill (5'9/185) is a football player who happens to be a track star... not the other way around. That's an important distinction in that his track speed translates nicely to the football field, and he has much more than just straight line speed to make him a dangerous weapon on the field.
Hill has breakaway speed in the open field courtesy of his 10.19 100 meter speed. That's said a lot, but it's rarely true. Only the fastest of football players trust their speed enough to pin their ears back and out run an angle. Hill is one of those guys.
But with his low center of gravity and powerful lower body, he also has an uncanny change of direction in the open field. He's at full speed in just a few steps, and he can make one guy miss, before running away from the open field.
He has good enough hands to be a contribute as a slot receiver and not just out of the backfield.
Hill committed to Oklahoma State last month, and the Cowboys will have an immediate impact player on their hands if they can get Hill into space.
Here is a look at him in action from this season courtesy of Garden City Football.
