Scout Recruiting Team Out West

Jalen Jelks

A look at the games that the Scout Recruiting Team out West will be hitting this weekend...

Phoenix (Az.) Desert Vista at Tempe Corona del Sol at 7 p.m.
These two teams had high expectations headed into the season but things haven't gone as planned. But there will be no love lost in this bitter cross town rivalry. Two of the better line prospects should see plenty of action against each other. Desert Vista's Jalen Jelks is committed to Oregon as a defensive lineman but will start both ways. Jelks will face off against 2015 star Cassius Peat. Peat holds multiple BCS offers already and is a four-star junior by (@jason247scout)

Camas (Wash.) vs. Vancouver (Wash.) Heritage at 6 p.m.
Camas features one of the top quarterbacks in the Northwest in Riley Hennessey, who's committed to Eastern Washington.  Up front, Camas, the No. 1 ranked team in 4A in the state, has Oregon State commit Drew Clarkson in the trenches.  Clarkson has courageously battled cancer in the past few months, and fought through the illness to play for Camas.  He committed to the Beavers earlier this month.  Heritage's top prospect is receiver/safety E'Lon Mack, who has a handful of offers in his back pocket.  (@BrandonHuffman)

Scottsdale (Az.) Horizon at Phoenix Pinnacle at 7 p.m.
Don't be surprised if there is over 100 points scored in this game. Horizon has been one of the pleasant surprises of the year, going 7-1 with a first-year head coach. Junior quarterback Dalton Sneed has put up crazy numbers and senior running back Luke Quinn has had a breakout year and earned an offer from Wyoming. Pinancle has a great quarterback-running back duo of their own. Pinnacle junior quarterback Brian Lewerke has already been offered by Arizona State while running back Josh Hoekstra has an offer from Penn of the Ivy League. (@jason247scout)

Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany at La Punte (Calif.) Bishop Amat at 7 p.m.
This game will feature some of the top underclassmen in the state. Alemany is led by 2015 Scout 100 receiver Desean Holmes. Holmes is already one of the top pass catchers in the region and has double digit scholarship offers from programs like USC, UCLA and Oklahoma. Junior running back Okalani Taufahema-Langi is one of the state's top power backs and the Crespi transfer has made an immediate impact for the Warriors. Junior standout Dominic Davis can play corner, safety, running back and receiver and will be a major BCS level prospect in two years. California DB commit Quentin Tartabull is the top defensive player for the Warriors but an MCL injury may leave him on the sideline. When healthy, Tartabull is a tackling machine who will play primarily as a linebacker. The Lancers have several talented sophomores to watch led by two-way athletes Trevon Sidney and Tyler Vaughns. Sidney is an explosive receiver and already has five picks at corner. He projects as a national recruit in two years. Vaughns has good size at 6-2 and is a very tough matchup for opposing corners. He'll play some safety too but projects very well at receiver. Junior Anthony Camargo is another two-way standout and will impact at running back and linebacker with the defense likely where he'll end up at the next level. Junior linebacker Christian Wiley is another talented underclassmen with all the physical tools to play on the next level. (@GregBiggins)

Camas (Wash.) Union vs. Vancouver (Wash.) Evergreen at 8 p.m.
Union boasts 2015 quarterback Nolan Henry, a part of one of the more talented crops of quarterbacks to come out of the region in some time.  Evergreen's strength is its underclassmen, led by receiver Justice Murphy, a 2015 receiver who first caught our attention at the Oregon NFTC, where he earned all-underclass honors.  Running back Rey Green, a 2016 prospects, is one of the more explosive underclass backs in the West.  Linebacker Brody Bagnall is the top 2014 prospect for Evergreen.  (@BrandonHuffman)
