After anchoring his team to a 4-2 start to the season, Rancocas Valley (N.J.) strong safety Alec Finelli is drawing interest from multiple schools, most notably Wake Forest University.
The 6-foot-1, 198-pound defensive standout will be making an unofficial visit to Winston-Salem to see the Demon Deacons host to Duke on Nov. 23.
“I’m excited about getting a close up look of the team, coaching staff and how they go about their business,” Finelli said.
When deciding on his future school, Finelli is looking for a program that has a good academic standing and is a formidable opponent in its respective conference. The senior believes Wake Forest meets those requirements.
“They have a great combination of academics and athletics,” Finelli said. “They play in a dynamic conference with a very competitive schedule.”
When on the field, the two-two captain of Rancocas Valley often can be found splitting time between safety, linebacker and even wide receiver. He doesn’t favor one position over the other as long as it allows him to throw his body around.
He has 27 tackles and five interceptions.
“I like to hit people and I like being up in the box,” Finelli stated. “I can cover pretty good, too.”
While he hasn’t picked up any offers yet, Finelli has also received interest from Colgate, Richmond, Albany, Fordham and Monmouth.
