Akron and Central Michigan both have offered Romulus High defensive end Immanuel Stinson, a 6-foot-3, 232-pound junior who is just beginning to pop up on recruiting radars.
"It feels great knowing I have the opportunity to play at the next level," he said, "and to have school paid for. I still have a lot to work on. It's only my junior year and my senior year is next so I have a lot to look forward to."
As for checking out the two schools who have offered, Stinson says, "I visited Akron on their homecoming, and I got a letter in September saying they were interested and to come up to one of their games. I haven't visited Central Michigan yet 'cause they were the most recent one, but I should be visiting pretty soon."
In addition to both of those programs, two of their Mid American Conference foes are also in contact.
"I went to a couple college visits, Eastern Michigan and Toledo. They were pretty interested in my size and said I should be hearing from them soon. I'm working on my [junior] highlight tape, that should be done in a few weeks for colleges to take a look at."
While he is happy to have the opportunity to play at the next level, Stinson still has one more year at Romulus, and he says his main focus is making that year a good one.
"It's time to get my team to the playoffs. It is a must for me. Being one of the seniors on the team and one of the leaders, that's one thing I'm trying to do. It's a big thing for me."
