A couple of prospects out of the southeast have added a fifth star this week. Both are from the same state and both shine on the same side of the ball. Learn more about the risers here…

2014 Scout 300

Entering this week, there were 14 five-star prospects out of the southeast, but that number has changed. There are now 16 prospects in that elite group.

The two new names are Rashaan Evans and Tre Williams.

Both prospects are out of Alabama and both prospects are projected to play on the defensive side of the ball on the next level. Evans, a 6-foot-3, 220 pound rush end out of Auburn is the No. 1 outside linebacker in the southeast. He is still considering Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and UCLA. Williams is the leader for St. Paul’s Episcopal and he is an elite inside linebacker. He committed to Auburn early in May over Alabama and Florida State.

Williams is an inside linebacker who can play sideline to sideline. He is a thumper in the middle, but can also chase the football. He has a physical presence on the second level.

Evans is an athlete who is strong off the edge as a pass rusher, he has really improved against the run, and he has made plenty of big plays on the offensive side of the ball this season.

New Four Stars

A senior that is going out with a bang is Nate Brown, a 6-3, 215 pound wide receiver out of Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett. He has 18 touchdown receptions through nine games and he has really taken off this season. He is physical wideout with good speed and a real weapon in the red zone. Brown is committed to Missouri.

A versatile offensive lineman out of Tampa (Fla.) Tampa Catholic is Corey Martinez. He has been on the cusp of four stars all season, but after seeing him live, we knew it was time to make the move. Martinez is a four-star guard on Scout, but could play right tackle as well. He is very strong, he has good feet, and he is very good in run blocking. The 6-4, 302 pound offensive lineman is committed to Florida State.

Vanderbilt may have a steal in Emmanuel Smith. The 6-0, 200 pound safety out of Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Oakland has great size, good range, he can support the run, and he tracks the ball well. He is a real leader in the secondary and he has helped his team go 10-0 so far this season.

Quick Hits

  • Not many are having a season like Alabama commitment Christian Miller. The long time Scout 100 outside linebacker has already tallied over 100 tackles and over a dozen tackles for loss and sacks this season. The 6-4, 220 rush end is explosive off the edge and athletic enough to play in space. He moved up to the No. 51 prospect in the country.

  • Bijhon Jackson – The more you see, the more you like. Jackson, an Arkansas commitments has worked his way into the Scout 100. He is very strong at the point of attack, he collapses the pocket, and the El Dorado (Ark.) star is now the No. 3 defensive tackle in the southeast. This move could have been made much earlier, but after watching senior tape, it shows Malkom Parrish is one of the top athletes in the southeast. He stars at quarterback and safety at Quitman (Ga.) Brooks County, but he is now the No. 2 cornerback in the southeast on Scout. Parrish is committed to Georgia and he will take athleticism, toughness, and ball skills to Athens.

  • Delray Beach (Fla.) The Village defensive end Kevin Bronson emerged at the NIKE Football Training Camp back in the spring and he has followed that with a strong senior season. Scout has moved Bronson up to a three-star end and he has official visits scheduled to Arkansas and Rutgers in December.

  • A couple of position changes have been made. New Wisconsin commitment Jeremy Patterson has been moved to defensive tackle from offensive guard. Maryland commitment Jordan Noil has been moved from wide receiver to safety. Noil projects as a free safety on the next level.
