With the recruiting process accelerating the way it is, Scout is now rating sophomores. There are no rankings yet for this class, but ratings, and that leads to stars. Seven sophomores added stars Wednesday...
Scout started to rate the 2016 class earlier this fall and you can see the entire list here.
Well over 100 prospects have been rated and seven new prospects out of the southeast added four stars on Wednesday.
| 6-2, 200 | OLB | Nashville (Tenn.) Nashville Christian
Bituli is a versatile athlete with good size and athleticism. He plays a lot of running back now and he makes plays there, but Scout projects him as an outside linebacker on the next level. He has long arms, he is fluid, and he is only going to get bigger. He is drawing interest from Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and others.
| 5-11, 185 | S | Cocoa (Fla.)
Gardner has a nice burst and he is an athlete. He plays all over the field for Cocoa, but will likely settle in at safety on the next level. His ball skills are strong, he really goes and gets the ball, he tracks it well, and he plays physical. He spends a lot of time inside box as an outside linebacker now, so he can tackle, but he is best when going after the ball to grab an interception. He has committed to Miami.
| 6-6, 286 | OT | Goose Creek (S.C.)
Kinlaw moved into Goose Creek from up north this season and he is one to keep a close eye over the next year. He has long arms, skinny ankles, and great flexibility. He is still very raw and he needs to develop physically, but he has a lot of potential. He plays a lot of defensive line, but projects best as an offensive tackle.
| 6-4, 280 | DT | Destrehan (La.)
Logan is is a big body in the middle with some athleticism. He is more of a plugger and stuffer now, but he has improved his quickness off the ball. He is someone who is going to add muscle, get stronger at the point of attack, and make more plays. He fills gaps, he collapses the pocket, and he has real upside. Arizona State, Louisiana Tech, Oklahoma, and Tulane have offered.
| 6-0, 195 | RB | Jonesboro (Ark.)
Mitchell was timed at 4.41 seconds in the 40 yard dash over the summer before his sophomore season began and he immediately turned some heads. He is very athletic and he could play running back or safety, but running back looks to be his natural position. He is averaging nine yards per carry in 2013 and he is quickly attracting attention. Arkansas recently offered and Arkansas State and Ole Miss have both offered.
| 6-6, 259 | DE | Rome (Ga.) Darlington
Rice has played both sides of the ball his first two seasons of high school and he could end up on either side on the next level. He is rated now on the defensive side as a lineman, but offensive tackle is not out of the question. He is athletic and he has already picked up offers from Auburn and Cincinnati. He has good hands at tight end, but we look for him to play on one of the lines in college.
| 6-2, 200 | QB | Denver (N.C.) East Lincoln
Clemson, North Carolina, and North Carolina State have all offered Surratt. The lefty wants to play quarterback, but he may have more upside as a wide receiver. He is more of a four-star athlete at this time. He still has two-plus years of high school to develop as a signal caller, so we will monitor that. He has good size, he has a 4.2 GPA, and he is going to attract a lot of attention because of his athleticism.
