Masek Has Good First Wisconsin Trip
East Grand Rapids junior Carter Masek took his first visit to Wisconsin on Saturday and the 6-foot-3, 225-pound linebacker saw the Badgers defeat BYU. "It was awesome," he said. "The atmosphere was second to none. The game was great and the overall feel felt really good." Michigan is not a state Wisconsin has recruited extremely hard in recent years, but this is head coach Gary Andersen and his staff's first year in Madison and they indicated that they hope that will change. "I didn't really get to speak much with coaches," Masek said, "but I talked with one of the recruiting coordinators. He said they are very interested and they want to get more Michigan boys up there." The Badgers also gave Masek the opportunity to return to campus. "They invited me back for a basketball game versus Ohio State and a game this weekend, so I'll probably be going to that." Since Masek's junior tape hit the rounds, he has noticed more contact coming from colleges. "Not really any direct contact, but more and more letters," he said, "Michigan State, Indiana, Maryland, Wisconsin, Purdue, and Toledo." Masek currently holds an offer from Western Michigan.
