"I loved the game," Morgan said. "I think State could have easily won tonight. They had some dropped passes that especially hurt against Alabama.
"Coach Townsend made the offer official after the game. I've been hearing that I had the offer for a few weeks, but this is the first time I've been able to talk with the coaches to confirm it."
Morgan relayed more details.
"Coach Townsend said, 'We want you to come play at State,'" said the sophomore, whose first offer came during the summer from the in-state Ragin' Cajuns.
"Man, it's settled in now that I got my first SEC offer. I thought about committing a few times. Coach Townsend just told me he liked my film. He looked me up-and-down good, too, and said that he figures I'll grow to around 6-foot. He said he can use me well at that height."
Morgan says he's coming off one of his best outings of the season in second-seeded Parkway's Class 5A first-round playoff win Friday over No. 31 Captain Shreve.
"I had four tackles and two forced fumbles," Morgan said. "That's the best game I've had other than Byrd, when I had four tackles, a pick and a fumble recovery."
The undefeated Panthers hit the road this week to challenge No. 15 East Saint John and four-star 2015 LSU commit Xavier Lewis.
"It's crazy with all the success we're having because I always played on losing teams in middle school," Morgan said. "I think my team won four games total in seventh, eighth and ninth grade."
