Hayes Likes Irish Tradition

Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary's class of 2016 running back Daelin Hayes talks about his Saturday visit to South Bend to see Notre Dame's win over BYU.

Orchard Lake St. Mary's sophomore Daelin Hayes has been taking frequent visits this season and on Saturday, headed down to South Bend for his first game visit with Notre Dame.

"It was everything I expected it to be," he said. "It definitely reminded me why Notre Dame is my favorite school: great tradition, great team, great coaching and great opportunity."

While Hayes is just scratching the surface of his recruitment, he is already hearing from the likes of Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, and others.

He could end up playing either running back or linebacker in college and his size was of intrigue to the Fighting Irish.

"I had great talks with the running backs coach and the offensive coordinator. I definitely had a positive impact on the coaches weighing in at 6-foot-2 1/2, 217 pounds."

The Irish hope to get a chance to work with Hayes this summer.

"They were stressing the importance of me getting back up soon and getting to the camps so they can see what I can do. After we talked, the running backs coach, Coach Alford, gave me his number and told me to give him a call so we can talk in further depth."

Next up for Hayes, he says he is looking at potentially visiting Michigan and Michigan State again next weekend.
