First Offer for 2016 OL
After two strong varsity seasons, sophomore offensive lineman Drake Jackson was rewarded for his efforts on Tuesday. "Kentucky Head Coach Mark Stoops presented me with my first scholarship offer today at a Kentucky practice," he reported. The 6-foot-2, 265-pound prospect is very familiar with the Wildcats, having visited several times. His parents own a BBQ business which caters for the team as well. To receive a first offer was a thrill, to have it come from a local program he is closely connected with only added to that. "I was left without words when Coach Stoops shook my hand and told me. It let me know that all the hard work I'm putting in is starting to pay off. It's great to have an in-state offer from an SEC school." Having seen several games and Tuesday' practice gives Jackson confidence the Wildcats are on their way to special things. "I believe they are on the right path and its special to have them so close to home. 20 minutes or less in fact. The practice was great again. I love seeing how enthusiastic all the coaches are, especially my position coach. Coach Schlarman is one of the most upbeat people I've met. I enjoy talking to him and watching him coach. The practices are a big insight for me." Jackson is also hearing from Lousiville, Ohio State, Purdue. He also says he recently heard from a new school. "I have been invited to a Cincinnati game."
