Next Friday night it comes down to one final game in Division II as Ohio will crown another state champion for the 2013 season. We look at two programs with limited championship experience, but lots of talent on the field.

The year started with 714 schools playing high school football in Ohio. Only seven games remain and the marquee game of Friday has Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville taking on undefeated Loveland.

Here is a look at one of the key games in this year’s finals.

Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville (13-1) vs. Trotwood (Ohio) Loveland (14-0)
Friday, 7 p.m. at Canton (Ohio) Fawcett Stadium

Glenville: The No. 1 seed in Region 3 will make their second state finals appearance. While Ted Ginn Sr. has built the Tarblooders into one of Ohio’s top prospect producing programs, success in the playoffs have seen heartache. This year things can end differently as the Tarblooders will look for three of Ohio’s top prospects to earn their head coach his first state championship. Glenville started the season with a loss to Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward but has never looked back knocking off teams in grand fashion posting six shutouts along the way.

Key Players to Watch: Marcelys Jones (Ohio State) (OL), Marshon Lattimore (WR), Erick Smith (CB), Trevon Story (WR/CB), Matt Draper (LB)

Loveland: This is the first state finals appearance for Loveland who earned the No. 1 seed in Region 6 this season with a perfect record. Prior to this season, Loveland had only posted one win in the playoffs in school history and survived a thriller against Zanesville to reach the championship game. The loss of running back Nate Slagel in mid October took a big part of the team’s offense away. Slagel had posted over 1,300 yards rushing and 18 scores in eight games before going down with an injury.

Key Players to Watch: Ian Leever (OL), Luke Waddell (RB), Gunner Gambill (RB), Drew Plitt (QB)
