Taj Griffin is.... FAST
McEachern High School is playing in a State Semi-Final against Scout Top 50 member North Gwinnett. A big reason why the Indians have advanced as far as they have is the work of 4-Star junior running back Taj Griffin (5'9/170).
Griffin is a touchdown waiting to happen. He's not going to bowl over a bunch of would-be tacklers on the way to the endzone, but he's going to run by a bunch of them.
He's both quick and fast. Quick in his change of direction and making players miss, and fast in that he can run away from defenders in the open field. Like DeAnthony Thomas or Chris Rainey, Griffin seems to be able to accelerate while making multiple cuts. I've often referred to this ability as looking like a downhill snow skier. Speeding up while cutting in and out of a defense is a rare trait indeed.
Griffin has excellent vision and despite his suddenness, he actually has very good patience. He's capable of running a draw play and setting up his blocks before showing off his incredible burst.
Griffin has already picked up scholarship offers from the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, and UCLA among others. Here is an HD look of him in action against Hughes who was 10-1 in Georgia's largest classification before falling to Griffin's Indians.
