Over the past couple of seasons, Manvel (Tex.) athlete Koda Martin has seen a great deal of success. Since he arrived on the varsity team, he has had very few losses to endure. And for that, Martin has no trouble telling others how thankful he is.
So when he was named as a finalist for the Defensive Player of Year by the Touchdown Club of Houston, it’s safe to say that Martin was quite excited.
“It’s a great honor. God has blessed me so much with the opportunities I’ve had,” Martin said. “I’m blessed to be on a great team that is still playing, which helps my stats and highlights.”
This weekend the 6-7, 250-pound Martin and the Manvel team will face off against Katy in a game that will surely attract more than a few spectators at Reliant Stadium.
“I’m focused on Friday (game day, December 6) and hopefully I will be thinking about a semifinal game next week at the banquet,” Martin, a Texas A&M commit said. “I’m excited about the playoffs.”
As he should be as this team is 12-1, going into its toughest game of the season.
