Johnnie Hankins is a running back prospect from Homestead (Fla.) South Dade high school. Hankins, 5-10, 185-pounds, help the Bucs to a state title win. This junior transferred into South Dade this season from Homestead.
“I am just happy that I came though and that these guys accepted me,” Hankins said. “I want to enjoy this. We earned it. Hopefully we get bring it back next year too.”
Hankins rushed for over 1,100 yards this season. He has very good speed and can run between the tackles.
“When I came to South Dade I wanted to get over 1,000 yards and I did that,” Hankins said. “I got that and more. We have all those wide receivers (CJ Worton, Tyre Brady, Nathaniel Terry) here. They help me and I help them. I just go out there and try hard and run hard.
“I am grateful and I feel so blessed.”
Hankins doesn’t have any offers at this time but is hearing from some big time programs.
“Schools like Duke, Arkansas, Penn State, Florida, Florida State and Miami are all recruiting me but no one has offered.
“FSU is my favorite. They have been since I was a kid. They have been my team since day one.”
