Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco defensive lineman Jacob Tuioti-Mariner has had a big senior…
Tuioti-Mariner is Big Time
St. John Bosco is one of the most talent laden teams in the entire country led by 5-Star offensive lineman Damien Mama, athlete Jaleel Wadood, and junior quarterback Josh Rosen among others. But the player with maybe the most long term potential is defensive end Jacob Tuioti-Mariner.
Tuioti-Mariner has an impressive frame at 6'4 and 265 pounds, and despite his weight, he is lean and explosive. Tuioti-Mariner is a volleyball player as well, so there's something to be said for his footwork and explosiveness. Those traits transition well to the football field where Tuioti-Mariner is able to beat offensive linemen off the snap and chase down plays from behind. His rare combination of size, athleticism, and drive make him the type of player that fast tracks his way to the NFL.
Tuioti-Mariner was hardly talked about during the offseason as the focus was on Bosco's more established stars, but it didn't take long to see that he was a dominant player with a bright future. Tuioti-Mariner quickly picked up scholarship offers from the likes of Wisconsin, Arizona, and Boise State, and UCLA jumped into the fray as his senior season wore on.
Here is a quick look at Tuioti-Mariner in action from last week's California Regional Championship for the Open Division (California doesn't have State Championship playoffs).
