Woods helps Havelock win third straight title
On Saturday, Havelock beat Concord 21-13 to win their third straight state championship and Taylor Woods played a big role in his team's victory. "It means a lot to three-peat – it's my last year," said the 5-foot-9, 180-pound Woods. "Now, the underclassman have to win a fourth. They just have to fight through adversity like we did." In regards to Woods' recruitment, two schools have offered. "I have offers from The Citadel and Kent State," he said. "North Carolina A&T is recruiting me, too. Hopefully, I'll hear from Penn State. They came by last Thursday." He will take some official visits soon. "I haven't set up any official visits up yet, but I'm going to take some in January," Woods said. "I'm going to try to take one to Kent State." Woods is in no hurry to make a decision. "I'm going to wait until signing day," he said. "I'm going to leave my options open to see what else opens up for me. "When the time comes for me to decide, I'm going to talk to my parents and they're going to help me out with my decision. I want to major in engineering or business." During his senior season, Woods finished with 1,010 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns and 130 yards receiving and a touchdown on offense. Defensively, he tallied 53 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery.
