Jason Alessi was a Division-1 lacrosse commit (Michigan) and had numerous opportunities at the FBS level for football, but the All-State safety and kicker found it tough to turn down what Yale had to offer.
After taking a visit with the Bulldogs last weekend, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound senior made his choice today.
"I have committed to Yale," he reported to Scout. "I just fell in love with the place when I visited and I couldn't turn down all of the opportunities it will give me."
Alessi was considered one of Michigan's top players at both safety and kicker and was a Dream Team selection as a senior after helping the Warriors to a third straight state title.
As a senior, he made 60 tackles and came away with five interceptions and ten pass breakups. He made 32 field-goals in his career and also made 122 consecutive extra points.
He joins a strong Bulldogs class which includes four-star guard Jon Bezney and three-star safety Hayden Carlson, both from the Midwest. Alessi is also rated as a three-star prospect.
