Getting to Know Connolly
Chicago Mount Carmel senior linebacker Sam Connolly had a big senior season and has seen his recruiting heat up. "It's going good, recruiting has definitely picked up since the season ended," Connolly said. "It's been pretty crazy around Mount Carmel lately." As for what colleges have been showing Connolly the most interest? "I have talked to Northern Illinois, Iowa, Western Michigan, Minnesota, South Dakota, and Northern Colorado offered me a few days ago," Connolly said. He added, "It was exciting getting the offer. Definitely a weight lifted off my chest." Northern Colorado is a program that Connolly is ready to learn more about in the coming months. "I like that they offered me, they watched my film and offered me kind of out of no where," Connolly said. "I am going to visit in January though." That isn't the only place that Connolly will visit. "I have officials to Northern Illinois and Iowa but I am not sure what date I will be going on them," Connolly said. "Sometime in January also I believe." The recruiting trail is getting pretty busy for Connolly, for several reasons. "Most of the schools say they like the fact that I can work sideline to sideline," Connolly said. "And can play all three downs." He continued, "I would probably say my strengths are my instincts, and of course having Enoch [Smith Jr] and Steven [Richardson] in front of me."
