Thomas picks up Purdue offer
Junior offensive lineman Jared Thomas of Indianapolis (Ind.) Cathedral picked up his first offer from in-state Purdue after a successful junior season, which included a state championship win. "I was so surprised," Thomas said. "My high school head coach told me to call him after school & told me the news. I was speechless, it's a great offer." Thomas said he gave Purdue assistant coach Jon Heacock a call to officially discuss his offer. "He (Heacock) told me Purdue really liked me and they were excited to get to know me more going forward," Thomas said. "I"m probably going to go there for junior day and another time in spring. I've visited Purdue before for a basketball tournament, so I've seen campus and I really like it." "I know that Purdue has a great engineering program and solid academics," Thomas said. "I have a distant cousin on the team that starts at middle linebacker. I'm not sure of his name right now, but I'll probably get in touch with him through my uncle." Thomas said he's eager to see the direction Purdue football takes under the leadership of first-year head coach Darrell Hazell. "I know that Purdue has had a rough year, but they're doing good things over there and I know good things are going to be in store for that program," Thomas said. Thomas also maintains regular contact with Boston College and Indiana, and he's received interest from Toledo.
