USAAAB: Day Two West Top Five

Royce Freeman

With limited contact and action we have combined offense and defense in to one Top Five. Here is Scout.com's look at the top five performances from day two at the West practices.

LB D.J. Calhoun

El Cerrito HS | CA
Team: West
Region: West
Recruiting: Arizona State

Eval: The MVP of day number two. He was all over the field making plays. He has great first step explosion and gets to the football in a hurry. He also showed that he is more than adequate in pass coverage.

RB Royce Freeman

Imperial HS | CA
Team: West
Region: West
Recruiting: Oregon

Eval: He gets a lot of yards after contact. You can not try to arm tackle him. Twice today he took a screen and a linebacker bounced off trying to take him down, he also showed the ability to score in the goalline situation, barrelling in from five yards out.

QB Jerrod Heard

Guyer HS | TX
Team: West
Region: Midlands
Recruiting: Texas

Eval: Covering this game for eight years now Heard is the most accomplished runner quite possibly besides Terrell Pryor. He is not the same type of physical specimen, but is smart with the football and gets in to the open areas with tremendous quickness.

DB Jaleel Wadood

St. John Bosco HS | CA
Team: West
Region: West
Recruiting: UCLA

Eval: We thought he did a great job breaking on the ball today. He has the best ball skill of any safety on the West and showed it today with a pick six type of interception and another interception to go with a few pass break ups.

DL Josh Frazier

Har-Ber HS | AR
Team: West
Region: Southeast
Recruiting: Alabama

Eval: Did not have as excellent of a day as he did on Monday, but still is one of the strongest and most active defensive linemen. We were impressed by the way he gets up the line and pursues the run. A versatile defensive tackle.
