ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The 2014 Under Armour All-America game announcements had more drama built in than usual, with several surprises along the way. No. 1 cornerback prospect Tony Brown was in that mix, as he announced for Alabama over LSU.

Despite suffering a seemingly severe shoulder injury during the week, forcing him to miss the Under Armour All-America game, Tony Brown still went through with his announcement and pledged to Alabama.

“Brown plays safety, but is a more natural fit to play cornerback," national analyst Greg Powers said. "He is in the mold of an Eric Berry, who can just about do everything in the defensive backfield. He has the size and physique of an elite college player and has already developed a strong work ethic off the field.

"Additionally, he is a nationally rated track talent and a bonafide speedster posting 4.34 forty-yard dash time to go along with a 60-meter hurdle time of 7.76."

The Crimson Tide already previously had no cornerback commitments in the class.

Brown, a five-star cornerback and No. 3 overall prospect in the class, could cement Alabama at the top spot in the 2014 rankings.
