The Oakley (Calif.) Freedom running back, Joe Mixon, is headed to Oklahoma...

Oakley (Calif.) Freedom running back Joe Mixon, told Scout when he was a sophomore that his favorite running back was Adrian Peterson.

Now the five-star will get to play at Peterson's alma mater.

Mixon chose Oklahoma on Saturday during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, donning a Sooners hat instead of hats for California, UCLA and Wisconsin.

"I'll be taking my talents to Coach (Cale) Gundy and Coach (Bob) Stoops," said Mixon.

He took an official visit to Oklahoma on October 4th.

Brandon is in his ninth year with and FOX Sports, currently as a National Recruiting Analyst and West Regional Manager. Prior to joining the Scout Recruiting Team, he was a team recruiting writer.  He's been covering recruiting for the Scout Network since 2003.
