Breaking Down Blake Whiteley

Last week, one of the top tight end prospects announced his intentions to play for the Texas Longhorns and Charlie Strong. Blake Whiteley is a tremendous pass catching tight end prospect and checks in at 6-foot-5, 240-pounds out of Arizona Western Junior college.

My Take:

Whiteley is a pure pass catching tight end in every sense of the imagination. He is a match up nightmare in the red zone. Whiteley is very difficult to defend with a linebacker because of his athletic ability/speed but is too big for a safety with a 6-foot-5, 240-pound frame. He shows great body control and catches the ball at its highest point. This kid is a football player and I love the addition. He is just another weapon that Strong will have to work with. He is a great kid and will work extremely hard in the weight/film room. I like the fit at Texas for Whiteley.

Blake Whiteley By the Numbers:

18 Td's, 1228 yards and 76 catches in 12 games in high school senior season last fall 2012.

Broke 10 year All State receiving records in 3 categories.

Named First team All-State

Ranked #1 Athlete and Skill player in Canada for 2013 by TopProspects.ca
