Central Michigan became the first offer for Oak Park's Shahid Bellamy, who visited Mount Pleasant for junior day.
"Yesterday was real good," he said. "I went around, toured around campus and then went and talked to the coaches and they really talked about family there. I was really proud to get my first offer."
Bellamy (6'3, 265) started on both sides of the ball as a sophomore and junior, but says the Chippewas offered as a defensive tackle.
He is hearing from other schools and may add other offers through the process, but will remember which school was his first offer.
"It means a lot. I've been talking to them for awhile, since the middle of my sophomore year and they're really about family there, so that's good."
That said, he will continue to visit other programs as he moves through his recruitment.
"I might be going up to Boston College in the spring and Michigan State in the spring and I'm going to try to get up to Nebraska."
