Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian receiver Chris Davis had patiently awaited his first offer.
After a big senior season, Davis still waited for that offer to come in.
This past weekend, while on his official visit to New Mexico, Davis was offered by the Lobos and paid their interest back by committing to New Mexico.
"I just committed to New Mexico on my visit," said Davis.
Davis said he fell in love with New Mexico on the trip.
"It was the perfect place for me," said Davis. "It felt like a home away from home. The coaches and players were awesome and I loved the city so it was a perfect fit."
Davis was hosted by Devin Desjarlais and Johnny Vizcaino on the trip, and spent a lot of time with head coach Bob Davie.
"Coach Davie is awesome," said Davis. "He and I have a great relationship and he said he's excited about me. Overall he's a good guy and it's great he's going to be my coach with his experience."
Davis becomes the second Oaks player to commit to a Mountain West school, joining teammate D.J. Riggins, who verballed to Hawaii.
"I'm very relieved to be done," said Davis. "The pressure and stress is now all gone and I love it."
