Midlands: Final Top Ten MLBs

FRISCO, Texas -- Scout.com finalizes its 2014 positional rankings...

1. Zach Whitley

Nat'l Rating: 54
Pos. Rating: 6
Location: Galena Park,Texas
High School: North Shore Sr HS
Size: 6'2|220
Recruiting: Committed to UCLA

Whitely is exactly what a college coach wants in a linebacker. He is a bit of a throw-back in the sense that he plays hard and is a player who is present for nearly every snap throughout the entire game. He is tough and relentless, but best of all, he is intelligent. He reads the plays and does not play the guessing game, making him a player a defensive coordinator can depend on. Is athletic, can blitz and cover sideline-to-sideline.

2. Cameron Hampton

Nat'l Rating: NA
Pos. Rating: 13
Location: Dallas,Texas
High School: David W Carter HS
Size: 6'2|205
Recruiting: Committed to Texas

Intense linebacker. He's a guy who can play sideline to sideline. He plays from snap one to the last second clicks off the clock and he's a guy who's very explosive with his speed and his hitting ability. A great athlete who still has a lot of upside from a developmental standpoint. He is the new age style of backer who can cover receivers, get after it and make plays behind the line of scrimmage and run down ball carriers in the open field.

3. Josh Mabin

Nat'l Rating: NA
Pos. Rating: 21
Location: Spring,Texas
High School: Klein Oak HS
Size: 6'2|219
Recruiting: Committed to Oklahoma State

Coming off a knee injury he was a concern for some, but he showed during his senior season justwhat type of addition he can be. He is a very physical player. Played both sides of the ball at LB and H-Back. Ferocious is the best adjective to describe him. Poke fans will love his game.

4. Sam Sizelove

Nat'l Rating: NA
Pos. Rating: 25
Location: Argyle,Texas
High School: Argyle HS
Size: 6'3|230
Recruiting: Committed to Kansas State

Opposite of Mabin, Sizelove suffered his knee injury during his senior year. He will need to come back stronger, but there is little doubt that he will. He has that linebacker look with broad shoulders. He has a nose for the football and makes sound tackles.

5. Dakota Allen

Nat'l Rating: NA
Pos. Rating: 30
Location: Houston,Texas
High School: Summer Creek HS
Size: 6'2|227
Recruiting: Committed to Texas Tech

Another one who could play in or out in college. He plays inside in high school and his superior running ability and size allows him to make some bigtime plays. He flies to the football and delivers big hits. He is very active. He is best coming down hill and one of his weaknesses is that he seems to struggle out in space at times, but does not miss many plays once he has the ball carrier locked on to his radar.

The Next Five:
6. Jake Blomstrom
7. Grant Watanabe
8. Bradley Ivey
9. Josh Watson
10. Dylan Douglass
