Midlands: Final Top Ten Offensive Tackles

Roderick Johnson

FRISCO, Texas -- Scout.com finalizes its 2014 positional rankings...

1. Roderick Johnson

Nat'l Rating: 86
Pos. Rating: 7
Location: Florissant,Missouri
High School: Hazelwood Central HS
Size: 6'7|320
Recruiting: A national signing day decision.

He is huge and has long arms meant for playing offensive tackle. He has good weight already, but looks light on his feet. Many OL coaches probably fall in love at first sight. On the tape, Johnson shows that he is pretty athletic and has the ability to move his feet, run, and get up the field. He does have long arms he is strong in his upper body and uses his hands effectively and can easily push defenders away. He plays with a mean streak.

2. Brian Wallace

Nat'l Rating: 169
Pos. Rating: 11
Location: St. Louis,Missouri
High School: Christian Brothers College HS
Size: 6'6|295
Recruiting: Committed to Arkansas

A big prospect who has a ton of potential and moves very well for his size. It is no surprise that he is heavily recruited by BCS programs. He is tall and long, but has good weight in the lower body and a strong, balanced base. Has very good upper and lower body playing strength. Has a very strong punch that stops defenders in their tracks. Strong enough to finish once he locks on. Seems to be a prototype RT with potential to be a LT.

3. Jovan Pruitt

Nat'l Rating: 221
Pos. Rating: 15
Location: Dallas,Texas
High School: Bishop Dunne HS
Size: 6'6|295
Recruiting: Committed to Arkansas

Physically, he is exactly what you want to see. A strong, raw prospect on the offensive line. He is extremely athletic and has the frame and length to be a true tackle. Has quick feet that also allow him to stand out and make some plays on the defensive side of the ball. Has work to do fundamentally in a few areas of his game, but plays hard and to the whistle. Is good at sealing the edge, but will get better with improvements in his technique.

4. Zach Ledwik

Nat'l Rating: 267
Pos. Rating: 19
Location: La Grange,Texas
High School: La Grange HS
Size: 6'5|273
Recruiting: Committed to Texas A&M

This kid is about ceiling. He will need to get bigger and stronger, but is also bringing a lot to the table. First off he has great feet, which allow him to stay in front of defenders on the pass rush. He is also very quick off of the ball and can get on blocks and to the second level in the blink of an eye. He struggles at times with the outside speed rush and the straight on bull rush. Has the ability to project as a high level OT.

5. Kealvin Davis

Nat'l Rating: NA
Pos. Rating: 32
Location: Garland,Texas
High School: Lakeview Centennial HS
Size: 6'5|250
Recruiting: Committed to Texas A&M

Is a bit on the thin side currently, but that plays in to his strength on the field in high school. He runs really well and can get out in the open field and make sound blocks. He arrives at defenders with bad intentions and is pretty strong for his size. Will definitely need to get bigger and stronger, but has all of the tools. He has good balance and keeps his feet moving after contact which helps him stay on blocks. Very quick off the ball.

The Next Five:
6. Koda Martin
7. Austin Schlottmann
8. Patrick Lawrence
9. Logan Lister
10. Kevin Pendleton
