Damien Mama announced moments ago on ESPNU he’ll play his college ball at USC. Mama also considered Alabama and BYU and took official visits to Notre Dame and Wisconsin.
Mama is the No. 2 offensive guard and No. 39 overall prospect in the country. He’s a massive 6-4, 370 pound line prospect who played right tackle for the Braves but will play move inside and play guard at the next level.
USC had been the heavy leader for Mama from day one. He grew up a big Trojan fan and it would have been one of the bigger recruiting surprises this year if the talented guard signed anywhere else.
Mama said he plans to play one year at USC and then go on his two-year Mormon Mission. With his size, strength, toughness and physicality, there is no question Mama has a chance to step in and compete for playing time right away for the Trojans next fall.
