Allen Talks Badgers Offer
Reisterstown (Md.) Franklin four-star offensive tackle Pat Allen had to conceal his excitement when he found out he received an offer Wisconsin on Saturday. "I was actually on an unofficial visit to Virginia Tech, I was there for a junior day with my teammate and his parents. I was in the middle part of the whole tour when my coach texted me [about the Wisconsin offer] it " Allen said. "When I saw it [the message], I had a huge smile, but I couldn't say anything so I just flagged down my teammate and I told him because I couldn't keep it in." The 6-foot-5, 270-pounder is one of the top offensive linemen in the 2015 class, with offers from schools such as Florida, Florida State, West Virginia and USC, but the Badgers are the first current Big Ten school on his list. "I really think that it's [Wisconsin] really a top notch school as far as being an offensive lineman, so I'm really excited," Allen said. "They have a great program. "Now [that Wisconsin's offered] they are in my top five," Allen said. "They are second or third. I would say my top schools are: Florida State, Ohio State—maybe Wisconsin is fourth—I really like Georgia too." Allen is already familiar with Wisconsin's offense and he has built a solid relationship with his recruiter, offensive line coach T.J. Woods and wide receiver coach Chris Beatty. "I feel like it's [Wisconsin] is a school I could progress at," Allen said. "They have a really good coaching staff, they are very technical about the way they play… how they run plays and how intense their offense is, and it's just amazing." Although the Franklin standout has never been to Wisconsin, he is very familiar with the Midwest. Allen was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, and he still has a lot of family in the region. "I've never been to the campus or anything, but I am trying to go this summer when I go to visit my family out there," Allen said. "This summer is very crucial for me as far as taking visits and going to schools." He added: "I know it would be a great experience." Allen said he is looking for several key pieces of criteria in his search for the perfect program. "I like the East Coast a lot but I want to be near my family," Allen said. "I want to be near that type of environment where I feel like I am at home. All of my family is down South and out in the Midwest and West." Aside from feeling at home, academics will also play a big role in Allen's decision. "[I am looking at] the type of programs they [schools] have. I am really into technology," Allen said. "They don't have engineering in high school, but it's something I would look into in college because I like technology and building things, but I also like music and stuff like that. I am just trying to pick out a few ideas for my major so far." Allen said he enjoyed his experience during his junior day at Virginia Tech as well, and he hopes to go to West Virginia's junior day on Feb. 22. "Other than that things are going great. I am just training for next year," Allen said. "I am focused on getting bigger, stronger and faster right now,"
