It all started on signing day 2014.
Plenty of other schools were showing interest in Nick Tiano, but on that first Wednesday in February last week, Miami reached out to the junior out of Chattanooga, Tenn.
James Coley sent Tiano a message on Twitter and that got things going between Miami and the talented signal caller.
"Coach Coley sent me a message telling me he was interested in me," said Tiano. "We talked on the phone a little and he told me that he liked my film that he watched, that I could fit into their offense, and that he was very interested in me.
"He just wanted to see me throw a little more. I went out on Friday and filmed a throwing session at my school and sent it to him. He watched it, then offered me a scholarship on Saturday.
"It felt awesome. It was my first awesome and it came from a school like Miami. It was big for me. I had never even received any mail from Miami, so it was that much more exciting for me."
The offer from UM will get Tiano on their campus March 22. He already has the visit scheduled and he is looking forward to it.
"I will be competing in the Elite 11 tryout March 21 in Atlanta, then I will be heading to Miami from there.
"I have done a little research on Miami already and I found out it is a private school and I have heard it is an awesome place. I am sure the campus is beautiful and I cannot wait to get down there to see everything."
Plenty of other schools know about Tiano, the star at the Baylor School. Even Coley feels many more offers will role in.
"Coach Coley told me I will pick up another 10-15 offers the next few weeks, so we will see if he is right," said Tiano.
"I am going up to West Virginia on February 22, they are showing a lot of interest. My dad went there, so I grew up a fan of West Virginia.
"Tennessee, Arizona, Florida State, Auburn, Duke, and Penn State are showing a lot of interest right now too. I will be visiting Tennessee soon also."
It is a very exciting time for Tiano and he is happy to be in the moment right now.
He visited Auburn for a game and he was at Tennessee and Vanderbilt for two games in the fall. Tiano will be back on the road a good bit this spring and summer as he closes in on a big decision.
"I am going to see the schools that offer me, at least I will try to. I hope to have my mind made up this summer, so I want to just see what happens from here with the offers."
Tiano has one offer now from the Miami Hurricanes and with that, UM has jumped out to the lead.
"Miami is my only offer, so that makes them my favorite," said Tiano. "It is a great school and I am pleased with this offer. I do want more, but if it is only Miami, that is great."
Tiano had 1,800 yards passing and 400 yards rushing in 2013. He finished with 15 touchdowns.
