He did not see that one coming. In fact, he did not see many of the offers he has coming to this point.
"I have been surprised by all this," said Johnson. "I knew I would get some offers, but I am surprised by the timing and by most of the schools."
The Trojans extended an offer Johnson's way Tuesday, last week it was Miami.
That began with Jethro Franklin contacting Johnson on Twitter, then he and Al Golden delivered the news. The Hurricanes are one of quite a few schools that have offered recently.
The three-star out of Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove does not know much about the schools yet, but he is working on that now.
"I have not seen any schools that have offered me yet," said Johnson. "I have only visits Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, and Florida State. I went to games there in the fall, I have not visited anyone this year yet.
"I am going to get out though. I am going to see a lot of schools this spring and summer. I will go everywhere I can."
For now, no leaders for the Peach State junior. He is taking advice from his highly recruited and he will take the recruiting process slowly.
"He has talked to me about the pressure I will feel too, so he is really helping me. I just want to see schools and see what is out there."
When Johnson does check out the schools and build the relationships with coaches, he is has two things he is looking for.
"Honesty and academics are most important to me," said Johnson. "Football is the least of my concerns. I want to play for honest people and get a good education. I know football is good at all these schools."
