Last year, Jovonn Quillen had a huge sophomore season and it is only a matter of time before college coaching staffs begin pursuing him.
“I haven’t gotten any mail yet,” said the 6-foot-2, 190-pound Quillen. “I’d like to hear from Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, Miami, N.C. State and ODU.”
Last summer, Quillen camped at N.C. State and Old Dominion. He has already started thinking about where he will camp this year.
“I’d like to go back to N.C. State and ODU,” he said. “I’d also like to camp at Virginia Tech, Texas A&M and Miami.”
While he is looking forward to the camps this summer, Quillen’s main focus is becoming a better player.
“I’m working on getting stronger,” Quillen. “I’m also working on my release – it needs to be quicker. And the last thing is my footwork.”
He has high goals for his junior season.
“Next season, I want to lead my team to a state championship,” he said. “I've got to be more vocal and take my game to another level.
"We also have to have a lot of people step up because we have a lot of young players.”
As a sophomore, Quillen finished with 1,300 yards passing, 946 rushing and 14 total touchdowns.
