Western Michigan offered an in-state prospect with a big frame last weekend in Northville's 6-foot-7, 230-pound Ryan Roberts.
"I'm excited," he said. "I'm really just happy to know that I'm going to have the ability to go and play football somewhere."
Roberts was at the Broncos' junior day when they offered and he had a great opportunity to see what they have to offer.
"I liked it. I think their program is moving in the right direction. They have a young coach, so he has a lot of new ideas on things. I like the new facilities with the new updates. I feel like they have a lot of potential in the upcoming years."
Roberts could grow into a variety of roles in college, but says how he is used is all on him.
"I think that's going to be moreso on how I produce and how I get better. If I can increase my speed and get better at what I do now, I can be a large part of any school I join."
Given Roberts' size and abilities, it would not be surprising to see others jump in and he is in contact with several other schools.
"Michigan State, Ball State, I'm going to go up to a practice. Eastern Michigan, I'm going there April 12 for theirs. I was just at Central Michigan and Toledo recently. I've also heard from Yale, Appalachian State, Wake Forest and Duke."
