Three-star quarterback Alex Delton
summed up his feelings very succinctly.
"It's the place for me," the Hays (KS) prospect said of Kansas State
. The 6-foot, 190-pound dual-threat signal caller brought an early end to his recruitment on Tuesday when he pledged to the Wildcats.
"They recruited me very heavily by coming up many times in the winter," he said of the KSU staff. "Their offense is literally a perfect fit for my style of quarterbacking."
A First Team All-Western Athletic Conference selection as an athlete, Delton is one of the top prospects in Kansas from the class of 2015. Though Kansas State was his only offer, the Indians standout was hearing from a number of programs throughout the country.
"It's a good feeling to be done with my recruitment," he said of his commitment. "I have a very good relationship with Coach Miller, Coach Cox, and Coach Snyder. It's good to be the QB of the class, and the first commit to lead other guys to commit."
After landing just one passer in the 2014 class, the Wildcats could take two players at the position for 2015. Delton isn't fazed by the possibility of additional competition.
"I think they've offered only one other guy actually," Delton said of the Wildcats QB recruiting. "I was the guy they offered first in the class of '15. To have that title is definitely a privilege, especially to have Coach Snyder reach out to me as much as he has."
Asked about the opportunity to play early in his college career, Delton said he's already discussed it with Bill Snyder
and his staff.
"They told me the spot will be open," he said, referring to the 2015 season. "With me being the type of QB I am, and how I fit the offense, I will definitely have a shot. I'm going to get a head start on learning their offensive schemes after my season is over. We've already touched base on minor things about their offense."
"It's an honor," he said of staying in-state and playing for Bill Snyder. "It's kind of a dream come true, especially how important they make me seem at KSU. It's really a perfect deal for me."
Alex Delton knew it was time. After early interest from a number of programs, the three-star Hays (KS) quarterback committed this week to Kansas State. Delton talks with Scout.com about why Manhattan was the place for him.
