The past week was a busy one for Newton 2015 athlete Roney Elam.
The 6-foot-3, 167-pounder, who probably projects in the secondary as a safety at the college level, pulled in six new offers. Texas and Texas A&M punctuated the week Thursday with offers only a day after he received offers from Alabama and Texas Tech.
Elam picked up a Baylor offer last Tuesday and started the week with a Mississippi State offer a week ago. In less than two weeks, Elam has seven high-major offers, a process kick-started by LSU, who offered the long, rangy prospect Feb. 20.
Nacogdoches 2015 cornerback Jaylon Lane also got multiple offers.
Then came Lane's first major conference offer Saturday, when Ole Miss offered him. The Rebels double-dipped with Nacogdoches prospects that day as they also offered 2016 safety standout Brandon Jones, who now has half a dozen offers.
Two of East Texas' headliners in the 2015 class received big offers Wednesday, though both committed this past fall to Texas A&M and remain solid to the Aggies.
Gladewater five-star defensive tackle Daylon Mack picked up an Ohio State offer to give him an East Texas-leading 21 offers. The 6-foot-1 1/2, 306-pound Mack is rated as the No. 9 player overall in the Scout300 for the 2015 class.
Fellow Aggie pledge Justin Dunning, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound safety from Whitehouse, got an LSU offer the same day.
Just across the border, two Shreveport Woodlawn prospects picked up new offers. Southern Miss offered 2015 cornerback Henry Black last Monday, while Alabama on Friday offered big-time 2015 defensive tackle T.D. Moton, whose offer list is well into the teens.
