DFW Weekly Recruiting Roundup

2015 WR Tony Nicholson

More than two and a half dozen new offers went out in the last week to 2015 football prospects in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Scout.com has a full recap of them all right here, plus the two Big 12 commitments the region produced.

Twenty-three different players pulled in 31 new offers during the past week in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, but we'll start off today's notebook with the region's two commitments from the last seven days.

Rowlett defensive end Charles Omenihu committed to Texas last Monday after visiting the Longhorns on a Feb. 22 junior day and getting an offer. The commitment didn't stop Mississippi State and Arizona State from offering Omenihu on Tuesday.

The other commitment came from Dallas Bryan Adams defensive tackle Joseph Broadnax, who pledged to TCU late Thursday night.

Here's a recap of the rest of the week's recruiting action in the DFW Metroplex:

Adam Scott, 2015 WR, Denton Guyer -- Scott picked up an offer from SMU on Monday, giving him his second to go along with his Colorado State offer.

Carlos Strickland, 2015 WR, Dallas Skyline -- the big-bodied pass-catcher got offers from the Pac-12 and SEC during the last week. Cal offered Strickland on Feb. 24, while Alabama followed with an offer two days later.

Chris Warren, 2015 RB/LB, Rockwall -- the latest in a long line of offers arrived last Monday for the 6-foot-2, 220-pound Warren, who added Auburn to his list.

Ronald Jones, 2015 RB, McKinney North -- two offers came in for the slashing tailback who continues to intrigue recruiters with his athleticism. Miami offered Feb. 24 before Louisville joined the race two days later.

Ryan Newsome, 2015 WR, Aledo -- Newsome continues to be one of the most sought-after prospects in the state and last week was no different. Nebraska offered him Feb. 24, then Ole Miss and reigning national champion Florida State offered him a day later.

Malik Jefferson, 2015 LB, Mesquite Poteet -- Scout.com's No. 1 player in the state of Texas got an offer from Georgia to start last week.

Zach Abercrumbia, 2015 DT, Dallas Skyline -- the rising interior defender got a Washingon State offer Feb. 24, according to Scout national recruiting analyst Greg Powers.DeShon Elliott, 2015 S, Rockwall-Heath -- the 6-foot-2, 205-pound prospect's offer list hit double digits last Tuesday when Arkansas extended an offer.

Taaj Bakari, 2015 DT, Mansfield Legacy -- Bakari was 1 of 4 players in the Metroplex to receive a North Texas offer during the last week.

Dailon Holmes, 2015 DE/DT, Denton -- Holmes also got an offer from North Texas, his first. He could be Denton High School's first FBS signee since the class of 2006.

Tony Nicholson, 2015 WR, South Grand Prairie -- along with Newsome, Nicholson was one of the state's most popular players in the last week with three new offers: Ole Miss, Washington State, and Baylor. Nicholson traveled to the east coast over the weekend for a Duke junior day trip.

Prentice McKinney, 2015 S, Dallas South Oak Cliff -- the middle of the week got busy for McKinney, who reeled in Houston and Arizona State offers on back-to-back days.

Jamile Johnson, 2015 S, Dallas South Oak Cliff -- while they were at it, Houston also offered Johnson, who is committed to Oklahoma.

Kenneth Mann, 2015 DE, Burleson -- on Wednesday, North Texas became the first school to offer the 6-foot-4, 240-pound Mann, who should see his offer list grow during the coming weeks and months.

Madison Akamnonu, 2015 OT, Arlington Bowie -- North Texas offered the 6-foot-5, 260-pound Akamnonu on Wednesday. That gives him three offers along with Colorado State and Kansas State.

James Lockhart, 2015 DE, Ennis -- Alabama was very active across the state during the past week and the big-framed Lockhart was one of the Crimson Tide's targets as Bama offered him Wednesday.

Anthony Wheeler, 2015 LB, Dallas Skyline -- that same day, Alabama offered Wheeler, who now has about a dozen offers.

Ladarryl Blair, 2015 ATH, Dallas South Oak Cliff -- the 5-foot-11, 170-pound Blair was the third SOC player to get an offer during the week as Arizona State offered him Thursday for his first.

Landis Durham, 2015 LB, Plano East -- Nebraska on Friday became the eighth school to offer the big, physical Durham, who could potentially play inside linebacker, outside linebacker, or defensive end at the next level.

DeAndre McNeal, 2015 WR, Mesquite Poteet -- no longer a sleeper prospect, the athletic McNeal got his fourth offer Friday when TCU offered him. Expect to see him get plenty more.

J.F. Thomas, 2015 WR, Dallas South Oak Cliff -- yet another SOC target who continues to get recruiting interest, Thomas picked up an offer from Maryland on Friday.

Charles West, 2015 RB, Coppell -- the speedy ball carrier picked up an offer from Arkansas State to conclude the offers for DFW during the past week.
