Twenty-three different players pulled in 31 new offers during the past week in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, but we'll start off today's notebook with the region's two commitments from the last seven days.
Rowlett defensive end Charles Omenihu committed to Texas last Monday after visiting the Longhorns on a Feb. 22 junior day and getting an offer. The commitment didn't stop Mississippi State and Arizona State from offering Omenihu on Tuesday.
Here's a recap of the rest of the week's recruiting action in the DFW Metroplex:
Carlos Strickland, 2015 WR, Dallas Skyline -- the big-bodied pass-catcher got offers from the Pac-12 and SEC during the last week. Cal offered Strickland on Feb. 24, while Alabama followed with an offer two days later.
Ronald Jones, 2015 RB, McKinney North -- two offers came in for the slashing tailback who continues to intrigue recruiters with his athleticism. Miami offered Feb. 24 before Louisville joined the race two days later.
Ryan Newsome, 2015 WR, Aledo -- Newsome continues to be one of the most sought-after prospects in the state and last week was no different. Nebraska offered him Feb. 24, then Ole Miss and reigning national champion Florida State offered him a day later.
Zach Abercrumbia, 2015 DT, Dallas Skyline -- the rising interior defender got a Washingon State offer Feb. 24, according to Scout national recruiting analyst Greg Powers.DeShon Elliott, 2015 S, Rockwall-Heath -- the 6-foot-2, 205-pound prospect's offer list hit double digits last Tuesday when Arkansas extended an offer.
Dailon Holmes, 2015 DE/DT, Denton -- Holmes also got an offer from North Texas, his first. He could be Denton High School's first FBS signee since the class of 2006.
Tony Nicholson, 2015 WR, South Grand Prairie -- along with Newsome, Nicholson was one of the state's most popular players in the last week with three new offers: Ole Miss, Washington State, and Baylor. Nicholson traveled to the east coast over the weekend for a Duke junior day trip.
Kenneth Mann, 2015 DE, Burleson -- on Wednesday, North Texas became the first school to offer the 6-foot-4, 240-pound Mann, who should see his offer list grow during the coming weeks and months.
James Lockhart, 2015 DE, Ennis -- Alabama was very active across the state during the past week and the big-framed Lockhart was one of the Crimson Tide's targets as Bama offered him Wednesday.
Anthony Wheeler, 2015 LB, Dallas Skyline -- that same day, Alabama offered Wheeler, who now has about a dozen offers.
Ladarryl Blair, 2015 ATH, Dallas South Oak Cliff -- the 5-foot-11, 170-pound Blair was the third SOC player to get an offer during the week as Arizona State offered him Thursday for his first.
Landis Durham, 2015 LB, Plano East -- Nebraska on Friday became the eighth school to offer the big, physical Durham, who could potentially play inside linebacker, outside linebacker, or defensive end at the next level.
DeAndre McNeal, 2015 WR, Mesquite Poteet -- no longer a sleeper prospect, the athletic McNeal got his fourth offer Friday when TCU offered him. Expect to see him get plenty more.
