Second offer for Stringer

Second offer for Stringer

Crete-Monee (Ill.) has a history of turning out talented prospects, the next in line is versatile athlete Omari Stringer.

The second offer is in for Crete-Monee defensive back/athlete Omari Stringer -- from Western Michigan.

Stringer previously had an offer from Toledo, but he was fired up to get the recruiting process going again Thursday evening.

"I've been great, my night just got even better with the offer I received from Western Michigan," Stringer said.

It was an offer that Stringer wasn't really expecting.

"I just received a direct message from Coach Callahan, my area recruiter from Western Michigan," Stringer said. "He told me to call him right away and we spoke for a couple minutes until he gave me Coach Fleck's info."

He continued, "He told me how much they loved me as a person and a player. They said they want me to be a part of the family. And the loved my tape so I was the perfect fit for what they are looking for."

The offer was one that proved to be surprising and special for Stringer.

"I was speechless," Stringer said. "I just thought to myself that I have come such a long way with all the adversity I have battled. I can just smile because I have been playing this game since the second grade and I never expected to be here. But I am so glad I am."

Spring visits are shaping up for the 6-foot-3, 185 pound prospect to places like Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, North Carolina State, Northern Illinois, and Indiana. Other schools that Stringer has heard from include Michgian, Syracuse, and Nebraska.
