West Recruiting Notebook

A look at the latest news and notes from out West in this week's notebook...

Bruins Get Their Quarterback

UCLA landed their fifth commitment, and their second five-star prospect when they got a verbal from Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco quarterback Josh Rosen.

The nation's No. 2 quarterback prospect joined Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman tight end Alize Jones in giving the Bruins a commitment from a five-star.

It also gives UCLA an early commitment at the quarterback position, a change from the past two classes when they landed verbals on Signing Day for 2013 and in January for 2014.

Rosen is the highest-rated quarterback commitment for UCLA since the Bruins signed Brett Hundley in 2011 and is also the first five-star quarterback since Hundley.

With USC landing a verbal from Ricky Town, the No. 1 ranked quarterback in the country out of Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure, it ensures their rivalry will take them through college.
