"It was good," he said. "I talked to the running backs coach (Lou Ayeni), he was cool. The school was nice. I talked to Coach Moore and he introduced me to the running backs coach. He said they like me a lot."
Of course, the nearby Badgers have also been in contact. Manuel already visited once this spring and plans to be back for another practice and the spring game.
"Coach Strickland wants me to come down to camp. I like Wisconsin a lot. It's close to home."
There are other schools interested and at least one has been talking offer.
"I'm hearing from North Dakota State, Holy Cross is talking about offering me, Cincinnati wants me to come down to camp. I'm going to Winona State this week and after that, the Badger spring game. Illinois State and Michigan State have been sending me stuff."
These schools all tell Manuel they like the way he runs -- tough. But he is also looking to add to his skill set this offseason.
"I'm more like a power runner. I stiff arm a lot, but I've got speed with it. I want to work on running away from my defenders. I try to go through them, but a lot of schools like how I run behind my blocks, let stuff set up and read it. They like my field IQ."
