Chewins, who also has an offer from Central Michigan, says most schools are recruiting him primarily as a tight end but some have mentioned tackle as a possibility depending on how he continues to grow.
His visit to Eastern Michigan allowed him to meet the new staff there for the first time.
"They gave a real good impression to me. It's hard being a new staff trying to make all the right moves, but they had a lot of positive energy running practice. It was intense. I went up for junior day and saw that good tempo and Coach Creighton is trying to promote the right things."
For now, Chewins' plans are to keep getting out to visits and camps and look to continue moving through the recruiting process.
"I'm planning to go to Michigan State tomorrow for spring practice and then looking to make a trip on Saturday to someone's spring game, I haven't decided whose yet. Then doing 7 on 7 and camps so training for that."
