Anthony Wheeler has been targeted by some of the top college football programs in America with offers from Alabama, Baylor, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Oklahoma, TCU and Texas to name a few. This past weekend Wheeler was able to visit Austin again as Charlie Strong and the longhorns held their annual spring game.
"My overall experience I really liked going back down to Texas," Anthony Wheeler said. "Just to spend some more time with the new coaching staff. I thought the team looked good and defense played a solid game. They looked as if they were coming together, playing as a team."
Wheeler is a 6-foot-2, 225-pound middle linebacker who is very aggressive. He is one of the more physical players at this stage of the game and that will only increase moving forward. He is a top priority of Charlie Strong and linebacker coach Brian Jean-Mary.
"I spent the most time with coach BJ, my position coach and watching them on the field going through pre-game sessions," Wheeler said.
"I talked to every coach mostly," Wheeler said. "They all said they could see me playing for t hem and that a lot of seniors are leaving after this year so they are going to need some new tough and good linebackers. The best part was just watching the game and seeing where I could fit in to play and they still stand in my tops."
