Five and counting for McGowan
Marshall, Temple, Cincinnati, UAB, and South Alabama have all offered Taj McGowan. Of the offers in his list, Temple has his attention the most right now. "I talk to them a lot, they show me a lot of love. I really connect with the coaches. I looked up their offense, they run a pro-style offense, and I like that," McGowan said. Earlier this spring, The 6-foot, 185-pound running back visited Florida Atlantic and UCF. He really liked what he saw at both schools. "FAU is a great school. They just got (head) coach Charlie Partridge. I really like him, he's really down to earth. (Running backs) coach (Roger) Harriott, I've known him, he's really cool too. I like FAU," McGowan said. "They said they're highly interested in me, they said they're going to come back in the spring and see me and see what happens after that." Central Florida had a great 2013 season and the recruiting momentum is sure to follow. McGowan really enjoyed his time on the UCF campus in Orlando. "UCF is an amazing school. I really connected with their coaches. (Running backs) coach (Danny) Barrett, I talk to him a lot, like every week. They have a fantastic facility, nice campus, it's just overall great," he said. "They're coming back to see me in the spring." Neither program has offered McGowan yet, but he's hoping to earn those offers in practice this spring when coaches stop by Hallandale. "I just want to show them that I'm really physical, I have great hands and speed, and once I get in the open field, it's a touchdown," he said. "I go hard every play, no plays off, I'm one-hundred percent full-speed, tackle-breaker, get in the open field and I'm gone." The 2015 athlete will be keeping in mind a few things as he evaluates the schools recruiting him. "I want a family-oriented school and good academics, that's really it," he said.
