"I just learned I can keep up with the best of the best," Jefferson
said. I just keep coming out here and keep on working. It just makes me come
out here and keep working my hardest."
There is still room for improvement in Jefferson's mind.
"I just need to keep working on coming out of my breaks faster. I think I need to work on that and running my routes to perfection and practicing on working on my releases better. I need to practice on that."
What did it mean to win MVP for the receivers at the Nike Combine?
"It meant a lot. There were a lot of great receivers there. It was very exciting for me, and I'm very appreciative of it."
The good news did not stop with the award. Jefferson was also selected to The Opening.
"God has just blessed me. This is one of the things he has blessed me with. I'm just excited to go and ready to get up there and compete."
Where all has Jefferson visited recently?
"Ohio State, I visited them a couple weeks back. I went up there and watched them practice. It's high tempo. He gets the receivers in the plays, so you know I like that. Tennessee, you know coach (Butch) Jones. I talk to Josh Malone on a weekly basis. I also went over to Ole Miss last Friday. That was my first time down there. Their coaches are all real good guys. I like coach (Maurice) Harris and coach (Hugh) Freeze a lot, and they run the spread and sling the ball around a lot so that is appealing. I really like Tennessee, Ohio State and Ole Miss."
Any other colleges sticking out for the nation's No. 29 rated receiver's?
"South Carolina, Clemson, Purdue, Penn State, along with Tennessee, Ohio State and Ole Miss. Those are pretty much the schools sticking out to me right now. But I really don't have any favorites. I still want to take visits to all of my favorites and see what I like about each one of them."
Jefferson talks about his favorites.
"I like coach (Steve) Spurrier at South Carolina. He's a ball guy and just wants ballplayers. I like that about him. Coach Dabo Swinney (at Clemson), he's a receiver type guy. He wants to throw the ball around a lot. If you look at their history they have had some good receivers in Brian Hopkins and Sammie Watkins. They have some history. Penn State, Allen Robinson coming out. Of course coach James (Franklin) left to Penn State so that is a big plus for them. Purdue, I like the new coaches there. I know their record doesn't speak very highly of them but they're really sticking out to me."
Any other visits coming up?
"I'm going to try and get over there to South Carolina, Clemson and Purdue if I can. I'm going to try and get over there before track gets heavy."
What are his goals this spring?
"I want to get bigger and get my team to have that dog mentality so we can go over there and win state. I just want to get the comradery for my team."
Timetable for a decision?
"I want to make my decision before the season starts. I want to have a trusting relationship with the coaches and my dad and mom and where they like it. I'll look at their academics, especially their meteorology program since that is what I'm going to major in. Lastly, I want to go somewhere that can get me to the next level in the NFL. Those are pretty much the schools I'm going to be looking at."
